Abstract
Additive manufacturing is a technique in which 3-D design input is used to laser down fine powder layer by layer to manufacture objects. Additive manufacturing doesn’t only allow us to manufacture stronger parts but, it also helps us manufacture objects with very complex geometries, which would be very difficult to do using conventional manufacturing techniques. Although, one major disadvantage of additive manufacturing is the spatter that occurs in the manufacturing chamber. Spatter leads to pores on the fabricated objects and sabotages the fabricated object’s appearance and quality. This research project will help find ways to minimize the spatter.
