Abstract
There is an overwhelming amount of merchandise that competes for your business. Digital marketplaces connect you to what you want to buy. Small and medium businesses sell more than 4000 items per minute through amazon as of 2019. This presentation explains how amazon and other websites connect their users to the products they are most likely to enjoy, and the cold start problem, an ongoing issue with recommender systems.
