Abstract

After the death of George Floyd in May 2020, the United States saw BLM protests in all 50 states. We then saw a cascade effect in which anti-racist protests broke out around the world. Our research aims to find if these transnational protests were directly related to or inspired by the American BLM protests. Were the “local” protests about the concerns over racism in the US or  discrimination and racism in their own countries, or a combination of the two? We want to investigate the connections between these protests and determine if a global anti-racist movement is emergin.
